Forgetting about the hunting aspect, white south africans are an awful breed of people.

Damn it all. I was out tonight and forgot to tape it. Please tell me it's repeated some night soon on BBC 4 or something.

Ive only encountered 3 - but the level of racism, how deep it runs and how unashamed they are in acknowledging it is beyond my comprehension.

You can watch it on the BBC iPlayer if you missed it.

Very good documentary, the Saaf Africans came across as businessmen, pure and simple - the business is kept afloat by monied yanks - Quelle suprise!  There was one game keeper who had a mad Sid James laugh.

Went to college with a load of white Zimbabwaens(?), biggest shower of c***ts I have ever met, sure some were ok on a one to one basis, but collectively you wouldnt want to be around them. Having rich parents to pay for everything they would run riot most nights of the week and destroy furniture in the studenrt bar and generally being an annoyance. They supported the South African rugby team and were complaining about having black players on the team. Likewise there were some black Zimbabwaens in college with as well were mostly sound blokes.

Didnt see this program although i read about it, but it just seems such a waste of time and effort, to rear these endangered animals to only kill them seems pointless. I think it would be more productive if they could increase stocks of these animals in the wild. of course there wouldnt be as much money in that. But in terms of tourism, increasing these unique animals numbers would be beneficial. One of the main reasons people from Europe, USA and elsewhere is to see these animals in the wild.

I really dont understand how anyone could get satisfaction from blowing an unsuspecting animal's head off with a high powered rifle from 100 yards away. I personally would get more satisfaction aiming a camera at them rather than a gun.

i only seen the last 20 mins when some tarted up prossie was takin aim and killed one of these wild animals who was just strolling along and getting a drink of water!!

ok, there is a the business aspect behind it but surely there should be some sort of control over the type of clientele allowed in to hunt in the first place...maybe genuine/experienced dedicated hunters would take the bad look of it, but letting in people who've never even stepped foot outside of the city before just so they can go back home and brag about it is not the way to go !

The irony, which Louis pointed out, is that it's these types of game reserves that keep the endangered species alive by breeding them, they are hunted to the brink of extinction in the wild.

Louis Theroux's African Hunting Holiday

Louis brings his charming take on documentary procedure to bear in this film about big game hunting among (sadly not for) affluent Americans.

Watched it last night, was a good show I like Theroux stuff. You could hardly call what the people were doing as hunting. Going around a private game reserve with a professional hunter and then taking a pot shot from no distance at the animals. I know jack sh1t about hunting, but I presumed that you had to actually hunt the animal rather than just go an take a pot at in in a glorified zoo after being led by that hand to it.
