If I remember correctly there was a report out not so long ago saying licenced drivers are as likely to be in an accident as unlicensed. I think it's good as it puts pressure on alot of people to use public transport and eases traffic problems making it safer on the roads too.

What do you do if you live in the country and there is no public transport, Townie?

There's hardly public transport in the towns never mind in the country.
Could you even rely on public transport in Dublin?

Is not that bad really in Dublin,Granted i very rarely use it,only on nights out really but in general the buses always seem to be on time.
I usually always get stuck behind one so there seems to be plenty of buses about

Its pretty medicore in dublin, not too bad if you work in the city or on route but if you have to change in the city the journey is a disaster.

The Real Laoislad, before you passed your test were you The Provisional Laoislad ?

I remember years ago during the Troubles, a rare overseas visitor to NI spotted an "L" plate on the back of a car and asked a local whether that was the driver signifying that he was a Loyalist. The local assured him that it didn't, but unfortunately the visitor had gone away before he thought to reassure him further that if he saw a car with an "R" plate, it didn't mean the driver was a Republican... :D
