Has anyone heard from puc me since the weekend? I'm starting to get worried...
I made it back ziggy, we stopped at the village inn for the 1st half and then decided to go to st endas club bar(give a few quid back to the club) I'm sorry I never got my pint of bass with yourself in ewings but sure there is always the Galway game. On the molly sweeneys thing I remember last year the drawn game against down they were selling tins of beer for £2.00 a tin, I lifted a 12 pack of harp that said £6.99 on the box and the fella in the offsales asked me for £24.00 , needless to say I handed them back and told him that it was not ulster final day in clones(10 minutes later they put their prices down to £1.00 a can) by the way the 12 cans were not all for me, there were 5 of us

all ireland champions and lovin' it

Workforces in most places (Im assuming you mean the pubs) didnt really care which foot most people kicked with - with the exception of the folks down at Scott and Ewing. I worked in McElroys for almost 7 years all in, including a couple stints in Bar Ten. We werent allowed serve the soldiers - and being as I was the only bartender on most saturday afternoons that was my pleasure to have to tell them. They were all very decent about it - better than the local travelling crowd who fired a stool at us on the way out the door.
I meant the workforce in the place I worked  in Omagh.  They seemed keen to discover my 'tribe'.  The bars I went to at night didn't give them much help to place me.

McElroys was ok. It's the one built into the hill at the back of the chapel isn't it?  Was there an old confessional box or something in the corner or something as a feature?  I lived off the Kevlin Road near the school so it was handy enough to walk to.

Oh aye, the Weigh Inn. >:(

Id go there if they had a good band - which they spring for about once a month.
Mc Canns is a great spot for music.

Roger - the old confessional box was done away with around 1996/1997 and the place was renovated and that was when I started there.

Its now closed and sold to the crowd that used to own the Cellar Bar - I think it goes by benedicts now.

McElroys bars are now side by side down in the shopping area that used to be the dark dank Royal arms mews.

It would be about 1995 the least time I was there.  The confessional box was a decent wee feature. Used to drink in the Royal Arms which seemed fairly neutral but dingy to me and was probably the busiest place in town on a Thursday night.  What I noticed about Omagh was that during the week nobody seemed to go out much. Locals seemed to think the weekends were great though. Is this still the case?

I sometimes go to Rue on a Tuesday night and it would be very busy. Mind you, that would be for a meal with friends.

The tavern in the Royal Arms was a decent bar.

Certain places get traffic during the week - but its usually only one spot at a time depending on what they have on  - quiz, music, etc.
