Anyone else think this was the non event of the year? Also Mark Durkan's attempts at humour are right up there with the AsshHoles in the Wall gang. As for the two so called Ulster Unionists in attendance, which is supposed to mark some sort of pact or co operation between the two parties, has anyone ever heard of them?

They seem to be doing a reasonable job raising Margaret Richie's profile as some sort of latter day iron lady in the Thatcher mould, but still it surely will not be good enough to enable her to win Mc Grady's South Down seat?

Sky Blue

If there was an election now Ritchie would beat Ruane handy.

Yeah - just as the Stoops thought that Briege Rodgers would win West Tyrone in 2001  8) .. .. Sometimes the SDLP do believe their own hype....they should stick to bitching about the Nationalist working class from their staff rooms and safe suburbs. Tuppence Ha'penny Snobs .... Last resort for a bankrupt party is to try and forge an alliance with another bankrupt one, one that wouldn't have pissed on them if they were on fire throughout the history of this statelet. Roll on the the Sad Decline of Liberal Prats!

Cville, seeing as Sinn Fein have become not much more than a SDLP-lite in recent years, I expect they'll ened up the same way in a couple of years.

You'll find that Sinn Féin do liberal politics just as well, if not better than the SDLP. Might not be too evident in the six, but it's not done them any favours here.

Agree totally. Just that I have always been an anarchist. Ruane? Don't start me! "Eye jest luuuve the peeple ove Wist Bilfest" .... Crikey! how she made me cringe when she ran that Feile.!!! Sinners are a closed shop of luvvies just like the SILLY DICKS who have LOST the PLOT! Saw the SDLP youth (Feck Me ! more radical than being mauled by a toothless baby goat) protesting about Burma the other day. As usual, safe subject, middle-class, trendy, very trendy. Next stop East Timor... where were the SDLP youth during the hunger strike? Probably in the south of France caming with Mum and Dad ( god teachers that they were) .. Why jump on the band-wagon now? Christ, I hate the SDLP.  Sinners aren't far behind.

nodoubt fearon will have a letter in the irish news tomoro about it!

Ritchie will not win South Down seat as she wont be standing, E.Mc Grady has announced his intention to stand again. As for a future RitchieVRuane contest for South Down, there is little doubt that Ritchie would win, albeit with a probable reduced majority.

Surely they weren't born then.
