Omagh legend Arty G passed away yesterday at the Bus Depo in Omagh.

He is the well known in Omagh for busking outside SuperValu on Market Street.

What is not so well known about Arty G is, that he once toured with Black Sabbath and is credited on one of their albums. He even appeared with them on Top of the Pops, in the 70s I believe.

A local icon, who will be greatly missed.

I used to hate walking past him in a suit, he would make some comment in his lyrics about the man in a suit!
God rest him

Puckoon

Ack thats sad news about arty. Used to break my mothers heart to see him as she remembered him when he had all his faculties and skill.
Hes seen some dizzying heights and some rock bottom lows.

Theres only one arty left in omagh now who could ever play as well as arty G could in his day.
Did he still have the wee dog?

Rest in peace.

The wee dog's still about Puckoon. Hope someone takes her in, instead of being sent to the pound.

Aww poor Arty, but I supose it's kinda been on the cards for a while.

Wonder what age he was?

Sad to hear about Arty's death.  While I was at school I was one of many kids that used to try to take a hand out of him.  In subsequent years I began to find out more about the man and became increasingly respectful of him.  RIP Arty.

He was 59. Still a young man in many respects.
