The Hurling All-Stars were named this afternoon.

All Ireland Champions Kilkenny get six places on the 2007 team, while Waterford are second with a county record of five, All Ireland runners-up Limerick have three and Tipperary one.

The All Star team in full shows Brian Murray of Limerick in goal, a full back line of Michael Kavanagh of Kilkenny, Declan Fanning of Tipperary and Jackie Tyrell of Kilkenny.

At half back it's Tommy Walsh of Kilkenny, and the Waterford pair of Ken McGrath and Tony Browne.

In midfield it's Michael Walsh of Waterford and James "Cha" Fitzpatrick of Kilkenny.

At half forward it's Dan Shanahan of Waterford, Ollie Moran of Limerick and Stephen Molumphy of Waterford.

And at the full forward line it's Andrew O'Shaughnessy of Limerick, along with Kilkenny's Henry Shefflin and Eddie Brennan.

Must confess to being chuffed at the news. I had predicted three for Waterford, so five - our best ever haul - is very satisfying

Croí na hÉireann

Surprised with Molumphy, Fanning and Murray. Fitzhenry, Hickey and Larkin can count themselves unlucky...
Westmeath - Home of the Christy Ring Cup...

Bord na Mona man

Kilkenny 6
Waterford 5
Limerick 3
Tipperary 1

Probably the lowest spread ever of awards - 4 counties?
In Murray and Fanning's case, it's good to see that early championship performances haven't been ignored. I didn't expect them to get the awards, but I think they are deserved.

Fear ón Srath Bán

Five for the Deise is proper I'd say, given the games they had, and the performances that were delivered. Smallest county spread ever though (or almost), indeed.
Carlsberg don't do Gombeenocracies, but by jaysus if they did...

mouview

Sheflin continues to pick up easy awards, probably none more so than this year. 'Tis depressing I tell yiz...

From the Bunker

The strong get stronger. A representation of 4 counties tells its own story, and the fourth is by the skin of its teeth. Despite all the hype at intercounty level this sport is dying on its legs. A quarter of the counties in Ireland can serve up a decent match the other 24 are in Limbo or on the way. Things ahve got so bad that tha GAA, have created back doors, side doors and trap doors to keep the strong 8 in competition and make some sort of AI. Time to go to sleep now zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
