some very interesting replies there, and ill note them for next years all ireland ;)
second scenario and feel free to add scenarios were you would have done things differently from your manager:

The week before the quarter final of the championship its a local league derby and its thick as hell and your midfielder, the star of your show so far takes a swing at the young cleg whos marking him, knocking him out..... Hes carried off on a door.  The crowd are howling for blood, the referee didnt see it but has been told by a non neutral opposition linemans that big Danny struck and hasta go.  The ref cant send him off obviously but throws up a yellow card to howls of derision from the Clonoe supporters on the balcony, lectures big Danny and tells him if he breathes again hes off.  The rivals are out of the championship and you need the league points to stay in touch.  Big 35 year old Nallion the hallion is warming up along the line and you can hear the snorts and snarls outta him.  Do you sub the big lad before they bring on big Nallion the hallion for his younger flattened cousin with the championship in mind and you risk the league points - 2points up with 20 to play.  Or do you let it flow.

Sounds like big Danny is a bit of a headcase, a liability if you will. The smart manager knows that if he's batin' boys in a league game then he'll not take the heat in a Championship match either, and you might actually be better off without him. You wouldn't wanna be the one telling him he's dropped for that game though, so keep him on, and let him get his suspension! Problem solved  :)

Depends on whether I thought we had a genuine chance of winning the championship or not.
If yes, then after 3 mins, I'd take the midfielder off (not immediately , as to indicate he was guilty)

if no, and the league was the best chance of silverware, then leave him on.

If you need the league points to avoid relegation, then either way, you keep him on (if relegation in the league demotes you from the championship also).

I'd bring on 'Max' to mark Nallion !

I would do nothing. Keep playing our game and not worry about the opposition.

We're the ones two points up and the extra man, let them work for it

I would not take him off, I would let him sort it out and take whats coming, but I would also take off our corner forward, sure he's yella, and bring on that man beater Lynchboy, who does not know the meaning of the word footballer to sort the big fella out. I can hear Lynchboy on the sideline warming up' I m not yella >:( I'm not yella...then let him off the leash

full back

I would keep big Danny on.
If it was a Championship final I might reconsider, but when looking 2 points in the league you have to go all out.
Anyway, if he gets a 2nd yellow he will be back for the next game anyway ???

Instruct your CHB to hit the midfielder a real good hard kick up the arse.  Bring him off injured with a staved hole, summary justice will be seen to have been carried out by team mates and the game can continue.

DoYerJob Linesman

Walk up the line and stick the head in Nallion the Hallion, sparking a field fight!  Scrap like f**k till it all blows over, and then phone Fergal Logan!
