I am hoping to go to Breffni park over the weekend.  What is the disabled access like there, parking etc.? Who should I get in touch with/member of County board?

I know I should know but it wasn't on my radar until recently.

Going around the country, is disabled access treated well in other grounds?

It's grounds I've never been to. Best people to get intouch with is the County Secretary.

Surely in this day and age, the GAA should provide better access to this kind of information. Not everyone has access to the net and the friendly, helpful world we exist in.

Actually....there is a quer idea for ye Ziggy. Get paid to go round all the Club and County grounds and review disabled access! I'll give you a hand if you want. We can review the social rooms too!

Insofar as I remember, it's quite accessible for disabled -- no steps into the ground, etc.

Breffni is a quite new development and I am fairly sure that Breffni has a small area for diabled people which is quite near to the entrance to the terraced side. If memory serves me well I think there is a slipway into this area and that it is the first entrance you come to when you get through paying. Don't go to  the back of the seated stand car park or you'll have a long way to travel around. There are no steps into the ground so you should have no problems outside. If you want to contact Breffni park here is the number...049 4361032. Hope that helps.

There is a small stand with a roof in breffini for the disabled.  As myles said it will prob do no harm to give them a ring first.  I think that they will  open the gates and let you drive in beside the stand ( not sure think i seen this happen at a league game)  .

Thanks for the advice.

Rang Breffni park and he said for the Laois/Derry game I should get on to Croke Park for a car pass.  Spoke to Croke park and he I should need one.  Just get there early.  Is the laois game ticketed or just turn up on the day?

It would be a good idea to review the disabled access to County grounds, who to talk to, how long before games should you get in touch, the good and the bad etc.

If i were you id ring breffini and say what the fella in croke park told you.  Alot of the stewards at them games do be on power trips and you wouldn't know what difficulties you might have.

Good idea indeed Norf, and I'd be happy to lend a hand too if necessary.

Make sure u have a name and a number to throw at them too, had to drive in to Croker a couple of years ago and saying I was on to such and such from Fitzgibbon St helped a lot...

I accept that challenge. Do you provide the transport?  :D
