Lucky GAA pants

Was thinking there about match-day gear and superstition. I recently bought a retro item from retro-gaa (good material btw) as I've never been one for up-to-date county tops. The only time I bought one was for the 2003 All-Ireland Final. I never wore it again until I dug it out for the 2005 final, solely for superstitious reasons. It has been retired again. I normally wear a simple white polo top with the red hand on it - not a lucky top but simply my match-day gear. I've met neilthemac and I know he dons his lucky straw hat for games. I've seen Fearon and he wears his dinner over his top but that might be a different thing altogether.

Does anyone here have a lucky (under)garment that they'd try to wear to all county games?
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

I don't know about lucky clothes but I have an unlucky MIL.  She hates the GAA(more to do with her distaste for the father in law!) but she came to 3 games since Mrs BC and I met.  Each game I got a red card, including 2 Ulster championship matches.

I have threatened to drown her but decided that it may be best just to not let her go to any more games ;D

I had what I called my "lucky jeans", they had been worn to all the Champiosnship matches & possibly League matches leading up to & including the AI Final in 2002 (yep the 22nd of September was a great day that year).  The "lucky jeans" ended up with a rip at the bum which I only discovered at the end of the AI Semi Final against Donegal (it was probably the jumping up & down for Stevie's goal which caused the rip).  Anyway because I couldn't actually wear the jeans to the Final in 2003, I made my Dad carry them in his bag, unfortunately the jeans were obviously only lucky when I wore them as everyone knows how that day turned out!  I do still have them lying somewhere, but no longer consider them to be that lucky, they will however always remain my AI 2002 jeans.

I have an unlucky Aunty. Never spoke to the woman, but all of a sudden I was volunteered to bring her to games, none of which we won. Of course that included two Championship matches against Meath, whom as we all know Westmeath have never beaten at that level...still, we might have won only for her  ;)

My sister hasn't seen our club win in 3 years, she goes to around 5/6 games a year.

Thank f**k she went to America for the summer

neilthemac

ah, the auld 'lucky dressing room' phenomenon

or the 'we never win when my mother attends matches' excuse

those things never stop anyone from winning a match. worrying about them does however!

Use to be a curse on the Laois team that they'd never win anything with a Delaney on the team. And sure enough when we won Leinster in '03 there was no Delaney on the team.

what if two people are wearing lucky under ware does mean it'll be a draw?
or does it depend an what proportion of the crowd are wearing their.

BTW
is it an early sign of meglomania to think the the outcome of a game a few million people might be watching on telly ext. could be decided by the colour of my underpants even if im only watching it on telly a few hundred miles away

When Louth won the NFL Div 2 title in 2000 it was the first game that I brought my eldest son to, he was less than a year old and we won!!
My second son was born in March of last year and when Louth made to the NFL Div 2 final for the first time since 2000 I insisted to Mrs LE that we had to bring him to the final and... we won again!!
If we did have a third son I'll be putting big money on Louth to win the next NFL Div 2 final...

I wear a pair of red runners to every Louth game, and never wear them any other time, but I wouldn't call them either lucky or unlucky

Finally, by coincidences I happened to order a pair of An Lu Abu boxers from Puckout.com this afternoon. But the underwear I'd like to buy from that site is on the link below, only problem is Mrs LE is a Meath woman  :D
