I've a piano at home, but I'm looking to sell it so that I don't annoy as many people when I'm playing as well as freeing up a bit of space around the house.  I'm thinking of buying a digital piano/keyboard so that I can stick the earphones and just listen myself, but I wouldn't know where to begin.  Any ideas on a decent/good keyboard.  It would obvioiusly have to be weighted keys as I'm used to a piano.  I wouldn't be all that great a player, so I wouldn't need a top-of-the-range one but I'd like to get one that plays well with a good reliable sound.

I take it the difference in a digital piano and a weighted keyboard is that there are more options with the keyboard i.e. differnet instruments, background music etc, or can this come with digital pianos also?

They had decent digital pianos with weighted keys when I was at the CBS - almost 20 years ago - so you should have no bother picking one up. Roland seem to be the best - but you wouldn't be getting it cheap I don't think.

Old thread here but looking for some piano advice.

has anyone had any success in getting rid of an old upright piano?  I have listed one for free, contacted a few charity shops, friends etc and cant seem to shift it.  The problem is of course the moving of it as it is such a heavy item, and most people probably dont want to commit to that cost even.  It's in working order to my knowledge and was recently tuned.  My son uses away at it every day. Amazing that I cant seem to find a home for it and looks like I am going to have to dismantle it for scrap.

Similar to the original post, we are only getting rid of it because we have bought a digital one that will suit my son much more, considering the amount he plays it at all hours of the day (the headphones will be great!).

Any advice or unexplored avenues would be much appreciated.

Listing things for free is rarely a sound idea, attracts the worst time wasters. Ask £50 or whatever and if they can lift give it away free.

Shame to destroy or scrap, they can be repurposed by furniture makers for various things. Have seen ones in smoking areas of pubs as well.

If not aware of its value would be good place to start.
