As aforementioned Gussie said to the warden, "Aint that a stupid rule", well it seems that this was a more stupid idea.

Just been talking to Peter and he tells me that a whole new system is in place to deal with making tickets available to people travelling home to games. And for people to pass on tickets to friends.  He said the above idea would not work, "because there is no need for it".

What you can do now is order your tickets and print them off on your printer.  Then they scan the bar code.  Once it is scanned once (are you listening down the back there Hardy), once it is scanned once it will not scan again.

If you have tickets for a friend you can copy them and fax them to them and they can bring the fax copy instead of the actual  ticket, each seat has its own bar code.  Fraud is out of the question and they are enhancing the system even further.  For all games that are not sold out in advance there will be a ticket office opposite Gills Pub on N. Cir. Road.

Well done to the GAA.  Credit where credit is due

Did u ask about the sunday game tune??

Bud Wiser

No, never asked, we were discussing why Laois with all the Minor and U21 success have not won a senior All-Ireland in 207 years ;)

Great stuff Bud, and huge credit for original idea  ;)
Carlsberg don't do Gombeenocracies, but by jaysus if they did...

I second that and it's good to know this system is available.

(How would we have found out, by the way, if Bud hadn't asked? Has Peter ever heard of gaa.ie? Or could RTÉ not be persuaded to take ten seconds out of their premium phone line huckstering of moronic "competitions" to put in some information like this that would be of actual use to GAA supporters?).

Peter has herad of gaa.ie and he knows about our capers on here as well ! I said "I subscribe to a GAA discussion board and we were discussing ..... " and he said "I know" !

As for RTE.  A total disaster.  I find it NOT coincidental that their teletext service has gone to the dogs at the same time that about twenty thousand euro worth of adds have been spent on the Small Adds, (the personal ones) in the Sunday Independent encouraging us all to text a premium number for match results.  You won't see the premium rate prostitutes giving much to charity out of the thousands they make from interested GAA fans who can not get the results of Saturday matches on RTE Teletext until Sunday evening.

Hardy, that horse is running on Wednesday next in Leopardstown!

Edit:

I suppose the buzz words now will be "Can anyone fax me a spare ticket for Sunday if they are not using it" ;)
No doubt the odd tin of beans will appear on the scanners at some stage or other.

Horse!! What horse!?  ;)

Re the buzzword, a mixture of faxing and e-mailing (webmailing) I'd suspect Bud. All handy.

Thanks, Bud. I'll keep me eyes peeled.

And my apologies to Peter, if he's watching! But a little bit of marketing does no harm and keeping people informed is good marketing. It's called keeping the customer satisfied. (Peter, if you want an incentive - take a gawk at the "GAA apathy and attendances" thread).
