At least the Anglo-Celt is now there to  give company to the Div 2 win and McKenna Cup.

A resurgent Mayo will take out Tyrone handily in the quarters but it's been a good year all-in-all. It's only the 14th Ulster title, so still a vintage year as per the thread title.

Although youre being obvious , youll be in for more of a battle than you think.
Walk-in down mchale rd , sun out, summers day , game day . That's all .

Is this Tyrone vintage a senior version of the Cavan under 21 team that won 4 or 5 Ulsters in a row? Under the training regime of Peter Donnelly they set up using an unwatchable defensive screen, bore the opposition to death and get a win in the end when everyone has fallen asleep.

Don't be bothering yourself with Peter Donnellys record u should concern yourself with Mickey Hartes instead and watching the Apple Munchers playing in the mini games series. Perhaps they will let them play at half time in Croker over the next month or so to entertain us.

How confident are you that Mayo will defeat Tyrone ,Aaron?

Mayo will beat Tyrone. Its perfectly set up for them, and they will be invigerated & hardened from the qualifier series.
2008 only in reverse.

They took 2 goes to win the semi. Monaghan have obviously peaked. Cavan are out. Does Ulster flatter Tyrone?

It took 2 goes to beat Cavan in 2005 and 2 goes to beat Down in 2003. Neither of those counties where particularly impressive in the qualifiers. You cant really compare the ability of one team by the failings of another. Are Galway flattering to deceive because they took two goes to beat a very poor Roscommon who nearly lost to New York. All form goes out the window when we hit Croke Park. That's why I am worried about Mayo to be honest.
That was never a square ball!!

I think a lot of neutrals would love to see a Tyrone v Dublin final and this is why so many are talking up Tyrone all year as they feel Mayo and Kerry have failed to challenge the Dubs. Whilst it's flattering to hear it is also distracting and so all the more reason I was delighted Tyrone got the job done v Donegal. I think Tyrone have the players to play a much more expansive game now and beat most teams but I don't think we have the forwards to beat Kerry or Dublin in an open game.
Still unbeaten in 2016 with a first Ulster title under wraps now for most of this young team, I think have already made progress from last year showing last Sunday they do have the bottle to stick with a proven team and get over the line.

With no over reliance on any one or two players it's very much a team or even squad effort as we saw on Sunday two players getting black cards and our two corner forwards not on the scoresheet.

I was glad to see the free kick situation being addressed on Sunday with Morgan scoring two from three I think and a few others being taken quickly to keep the ball moving. Can you imagine being in an AI final v the Dubs with 50 thousand Dubs booing all Morgans free kicks.

Cathal buì Mac ghiolla ghunna would have been known in Tyrone back in the day. His most famous poem was an bonnán buí.

I wonder about Tyrone

Chan díobháil puke ach easpa scoring forwards might be the thing.

Not trying to be disrespectful to Westmeath here, as I'm sure they will give MAyo all they can handle, effort wise, and the likes of Heslin will damage the Mayo full back line if Westmeath can get ball into him, but I hope Mayo win and play Tyrone. I think that would be a fascinating game, and I believe the winners will come from it. Not because I'd love to see a Tyrone Dublin final, but I think Mayo and Tyrone both have the profile and the game to give Dublin a right rattle. I can't see Kerry beating Dublin, as I don't think they have the legs for it.

On Galway - yes.
As a follow-up the teams Galway have beaten this year are Roscommon at the 2nd attempt, Mayo (who were abject) by a single score, Laois who were relegated and Derry who avoided relegation on scoring difference. 4 wins out of 10 games. I saw the pictures of them celebrating winning Connacht and I thought they looked very much like a team who were thinking they were going into bonus territory.

This Tyrone side's great strength seems to be resilience - they have lost no game this year (but they have 3 draws - Armagh, Fermanagh and Cavan) They've also won 3 games by 2 points and another game by a goal. That's a hell of a lot of tight games in one year to come out of without losing. However I'm not sure that's the key quality when it comes to winning All-Irelands though.

Also Donegal are the first Division 1 opposition they've met this year and there's no denying how awful they were in the second half. Whoever they play it's going to be a battle, but it's very hard to see them battling all the way to Sam.

Donegal are a team that within the confines of Clones can create a defensive structure that is tougher to crack than any other.  Tyrone went more defensive in this game, which was required, and ultimately no matter how bad Donegal were perceived to be, a lot of the credit has to go to the work put in by the Tyrone players that contributed to the Donegal players not having the opportunity to score or create scores.
