Anyone involved in this on either side of the equation?

I've read the rate of return for lenders is around 5%.

I've been using Zopa for about 10 years. You'll get 5% return but only if you lend to those with less than perfect credit scores. I've a Zopa at the moment taken out last year for 4.2%. Rates of over 5% are going to be for more riskier clients. In general though for me I think the novelty is wearing off. The attraction used to be a rate much better than the banks and it was exclusive to those with excellent credit ratings. That seems to have changed that and the likes of Nationwide are beating them on rates. So they must be losing customers and are widening the net.

I've been using Prosper for about eight years for lending and borrowing. Been making about 10% on the lending side.
