March 2015 our game v Meath was called off at 1 pm.
Many Meathies plus long distance Ros fans were in town or near it at that time.

If so Rossfan, then I'd say the exact same thing about that game and the Meath CB. I don't know the background to the game you're referring to but my point is that CB's can't (or shouldn't) take a haphazard approach to staging major events like division 1 national league games. As Canalman said, if Roscommon CB said that Carrick was the backup venue and that there would be buses (which you could charge for it you like) to take people to the game, from the train station and the town centre, in the event of the Hyde being unplayable then nobody could have any complaints. If they did that then they would have kept the Dublin overnight supporters in Roscommon, kept all supporters informed of the contingency plan and avoided looking like lads making things up as they went along.

I don't think any of the above would have been difficult to do, would it?

Zula you are exactly right , And as a Rossie I cannot understand  why some of our guys  on here are trying to justify the unjustifiable . It was a shambles , and you think all the money spent on club pitches around the county , and our marque pitch is like this, begs belief , Yea and then  we hide behind croke park etc and a dispute between local club v county board etc etc , But at least it seems like we have a half decent team and good management etc , I guess we cannot have every thing , baby steps i guess , Just sad to see our dirt laundry in the national media again
