Whatever about the football composite, the Shinty/Hurling is interesting. Arguably handling the ball and kicking it is not core to hurling at all and could be dispensed with.

And other initiatives are underway

I would keep points  though, the point struck from 70m is a good part of the game and some more scores are desirable for entertainment reasons.

Although Ireland were clearly the better team, it was a decent contest, I thought the 1st half was more entertaining the second, the match just petered out a bit after the hour mark.

I still think it could go either way in Inverness, but Ireland will almost certainly win the series: even if Scotland win next Saturday, I can't see them getting a similar winning margin.

Will the second game be on BBC Alba?  Doubt il be able to see TG4 here on a live stream

It's live on BBC 2 Scotland, you will be able to get that through Sky if you have it. The first test was a decent enough contest and Scotland are close enough to keep it alive going into the second game. I will head down for the Bught for it, there's always the beer tent if Ireland pull away early on.

It's been p*shing down in Inverness for the last couple of days and the forecast tomorrow is grim so the Bught will be very heavy indeed. Probably suit Ireland better, it will be very poor conditions for moving the ball on the ground.

The more skill is on show by the Irish, the pitch is like something you get out of a junior game, nothing but leaves on the field

Actually enjoyed that...as WW said the Irish much more skilful.

Bit harsh, they did well to get the game on at all given the rain the last couple of days! I'd say that was their priority rather than getting the leaves off the field.

Didn't think it was much of a game today. The park was too heavy for Scotland and meant they were pretty laboured in working the ball up the field, then Ireland just hammered it back down the pitch in the air. Some nice Irish points in the second half but otherwise poor fare, not a patch on a good game in either code.

First blood to Scotland in the 2014 series with a 3-14 to 2-8 win at the Bught Park yesterday. Second test to come in Newry on Saturday. Probably a good thing for the series that Scotland managed a win after losing the last few. Will be interesting to see how Ireland react in the second test.

We'll be playing a composite rules match ourselves against a local hurling and camogie club (we play as a mixed team, not enough shinty players in London otherwise) in 3 weeks here in London.

International match just started on BBC 2 Scotland if anybody is interested.

Finished up Scotland 3-15 Ireland 2-8.

Saw 1st half. Ireland weren't at the races at all. Obviously a big improvement after I left the house.
2nd leg is on before the Intl Rules 21st Nov.
