Tyrone have only 48 mens football clubs and a couple of additional ladies clubs , there are maybe 4/5 hurling clubs .
Not sure how they got to 68

There's 48 football, 4 hurling, and 17 ladies. Thats 69, not including handball, of which there is at least 4.
Strictly speaking ladies' clubs are not part of the GAA so ye've 52.
There are a couple of youth clubs in Tyrone that would be amalgamation of adult clubs.

You also have Cappagh at underage and few hurling youth clubs as well. Not sure if the clubs that put out B teams at underage count as well.

Carras is Garrymore/Kilmaine underage amalgamation. Loads of them in Mayo unfortunatrly

I know my Mayo geography pretty well, and I'm confused by this one. Do those 2 parishes border each other?  I would have thought there's a couple of clubs in between them.

That can happen. In cases where the clubs in between are capable of fielding on their own, or as an already formed amalgamation, it's not unusual for clubs to 'jump' a couple of places to meet another club willing to amalgamate for underage especially. Here in Tipp Sean Treacys of Rear Cross are joined with Emly, who are miles away.
St. Michaels Foilmore in south Kerry are joined at senior with a fair spin between both parts, maybe half hour?

True that. Wouldn't be all out a half hour now, but Ballinskellig to Foilmore would have, at a rough estimat,e parts of Dromid, Renard, The Marys between the two of them.

Also Lahardane and Ardmoy (Ardagh, Moygownagh amalgamation) playy under the name Ardmoy MacHales. Lahardane and Ardagh are separated by Crossmolina which is a big area.

twohands!!!

Wonder would there much work in setting up a rounders club?

If you set one up in some parts of the country you probably wouldn't have much (if any) in the way of competition - easy way to win a couple of county titles.

Plus as an added bonus 2 tickets to the All-Ireland would come in far handy  ;D ;D ;D

Rounders is the great mystery sport of the GAA.

I believe one from this parish is the PRO of the rounders GAA. Laoisgaa?
