Just wondering when this soccer sh1t of clapping your way through a minutes silence started up in the GAA. I've noticed it at a few recent games.
What's wrong with just standing still and respectfully shutting ta fcuk up for a minute.  >:(

You can forget about Sean Cavanagh as far as he's a man!

I was at the Munster final when, after a worthy obituary for the great Jimmy Doyle, the announcer asked us to remember David Houlihan, a 24-year-old member of Dungarvan GAA who had died on holiday in Thailand the previous week. You could hear the gasp of surprise from the crowd that someone had thought of him, and the spontaneous applause that followed was a reflection of that.

In short, stop being such a grouch.

I have to say applause has crept into Churches the last couple of years when someone says a few words of appreciation of the deceased. It's a nice touch and a lot warmer. So long as there is respect it does not really matter.

It's because there is often at least one drunken ape who can't resist shouting "Up Tipp!" during the silence.
If you were any use you'd be playing.

I know it's nice to respect the dead but there are few matches now without a minutes silence. It's like there is a committee setup to work out who the minute silence is for. Anyone remember when this started to be common place
