Any of you lucky enough to have a wee wager on Portadown today ???????   ;D ;D ;D  The odds would have been good on Portadown getting a win here but to score 8 against the meanest defence in the Premiership ??????????   :D :D

Dungannon Swifts 2-8 Portadown

Richard Leckey scored eight goals in Portadown's remarkable win.Leckey nipped in ahead of keeper Alvin Rouse for a 38th-minute opener and turned away from marker Adam McMinn to score again just before half-time.

The tall striker got two more after the break with Gary McCutcheon also striking twice to make it 6-0.

A terrific strike by Kevin Braniff and a shot in off the posy by Wesley Boyle made it eight before Ryan McIlmoyle and Andy Hamilton got late Swifts goals.

It was a sensational win for Portadown, against a Dungannon team which had boasted the best defence record in the Premiership.

And it was a personal triumph for Leckey who was making his first start of the campaign.

Having scored in his last two games as a substitute, Leckey made it three goals in three when he netted the opener form McCutcheon's cross.

He made it two in the 44th minute and then completed his hat-trick five minutes into the second half.

Leckey then scored with a first-time half-volley which went in off the underside of Alvin Rouse's crossbar.

McCutcheon then went through to clip the ball over Rouse and the Scotsman quickly added another.

Braniff then scored with a superb strike from distance before Boyle turned on the edge of the box and, although he did not make full contact with the ball, his shot went in off a post.

McIlmoyle netted from Shane Coney's cross for Dungannon in the 83rd minute and sub Hamilton shot in from 20 yards for the home side.

Good to see it after the week their chairman had trying to get Derry City wound up. Jarlath Burns did a good piece about it in Gaelic Life, the idea of a club wanting to shut another one down. Well done Portydown.

Thats pure bollix Fox. What did you want the Swifts to do? £30000 is a hell of a lot of money to a club like the Swifts and they had every right to do what they did.

They tried to have them shut dow and will then never get their money back? then Swifts chairman Faloon comes out and says if Derry get back in he will ask they be docked 10 points... vindictive, spiteful w***er.

agree with you totally but the Swifts have behaved in a very vindictive manner about it.

So what do you think the Swifts should have done then Fox?

longrunsthefox

As a solicitor Faloon should know that having them exterminated or 10 points taken off them next year will not get their money. Obviously keep pressing thro law for the money but not try and have the club wrapped up. Anyway it is not like they took the money out of the Swifts account. Swifts are getting about ten people at their games..maybe you are one of the....  Longrunsthefox... their day will come and hopefully no-one sinks to the level they did with Derry.

Derry City cheated everone, players, other teams in league, the tax man,and Dungannon Swifts are the bad boys? Wise up. What were they supposed to do. Sit back and take the loss,or try to get some money they were owed.If the cheats never get back into football, the only people I feel sorry for are the genuine fans who supported them. :-X

Aye! Jees man, of course they should try and get the money they were owed. It was trying to get Derry shut down I can't get my haed around as they would then have no chance of getting their money and Faloon then saying he wants them docked ten points if they get back in. Will that get the money  back?... seems spiteful to me.

I'd want it back not want the person exterminated... which would mean I'd never get it back.

Derry City wer`nt put out of business because of what Dgn Swifts, did. They were put out because they were caught on a nefarious practise scam. All Dgn wanted, like any business was what was owed to them. Why should they get away with it. did not even pay the players ffs. What are these guys supposed to do in the mouth of Christmas. I know how they feel as a company I worked for, for over 20 years went into liquidation owing the workers wages and supposedly losing our pension money as well. We were made preferential creditors to be paid when assets were raised. That was 18 yrs ago. I`m still waiting.
