I really don't know how joining the Commonwealth progresses us to an united Ireland.

It reassures northern protestants that they won't be uniting with a bitter and twisted shower of self-pitying Brit haters.

Well I'm not a Brit-hater, I'm a Republican.

Yes, they wouldn't be used to bitter and self pitying people.

I don't think the 26 counties should join the Commonwealth, we don't need any more partitioned sports teams and unionists would just come back looking for more. But if the idea emerged when a UI was mooted, it would be they type of thing that should be on the table and I expect it will, if the Commonwealth lasts that long.
If at first you don't succeed, then goto Plan B

Why would commonwealth membership have any effect on sports teams?

You are simply substituting one thing for another

That would be the Commonwealth Games, would it not.
I don't want to see two Irish teams in this, there is enough division.

Belgium and Germany never subjected us to Centuries of murder, oppression, land grabbing, outlawing our language, culture, religion etc etc.

Jesus Christ are we ever going to get over this victim complex? When are you going to grow up and move on?

Why would there be? Surely it'd be a 32 county Ireland team as part of the deal.

What would sports teams have to do with anything?
Haven't we loads of 32 County teams in various sports at present?

According to some this never happened. Or conveniently ignored.

Very little if the truth was told, but I'd envisage 'Ireland' being part of the commonwealth as a 32 county entity and not Norn Iron and the Republic as separate entities within that.

Unless its an appeasement to unionists in a step to a UI, I'd not bother.
