So tonight I sampled old peculiar, Newcastle ale and now on to old speckled.

OP - was a darker ale than I have had before, but lighter tasting than a shout.

NA - I really like this beer, possible too drinkable.

OS - Nice complex light beer, very tasty.

Tomorrow, I have some Hobgoblin, Dooms bar and Black sheep, Looking forward to them all.

Is there reALEly any such thing as a bottled real ale?     Technically real ale is out of the cask not bottled with  preservatives for consumption months later!

I enjoy a nice ale. Are they starting to sell English ale in Ireland?

Among my favourites are Old Speckled Hen, London Pride, Marstons IPA, Guinness Blue label (not sure of the name), Black Sheep, Black Cab, Hobgoblin.

No real ale can come bottled under CAMRA definitions, as the beer is unfiltered and bottle conditioned. The only preservatives used are the hops and alcohol... great stuff, although I do prefer it out of cask myself!

When I was at Uni in the 80s in Coleraine there was a pub called The Old Forge Inn and they had Theakstons Old Peculiar on draught/keg..whatever...beautiful stuff.
