BTW - Croí - what language are you speaking. I would have though the criteria would be Senior National Titles ...so perhaps the answer is Wicklow or.......Carlow or.........etc

1 county voted to get the Dubs out of Croke Park. I'm presuming it's either Longford or Offaly who wanted to play them at home. So the other voted to take the money and gets the honour. Should be booted out.
Or it may have been Laois if they voted against the year before and they wanted to appear consistent.

The matter was raised (i.e. the raising of the white flag) at the monthly meeting last night of the Longford County Board.

Seemingly the players were asked after the initial draw where they would like to play The Dubs should they beat Offaly.

They overwhelmingly voted for Croke Park so, there ya go!

Feck the players it should be a management call and if you're anyway inclined as to wanting to beat the Dubs you play them on your home pitch as that's where you'll have your best chance!

I know Croke Park is the Holy Grail and all but would you not rather play there in a Leinster Semi Final or Final as opposed to playing it half full for a first round game?

The Insider

Don't always believe what a county board chairman says , despite his press releases I don't think Longford made any representations to have a Leinster quarter final in Pearse park had they gotten over Offaly . No vote was taken on the venues , in the main vote at the Leinster meeting Longford abstained on the vote to allow Galway ,Antrim and Kerry into the Leinster minor hurling as we don't partake in same

Having watched a good few Leinster games in recent years I agree AZ, they should all hang there heads in shame.
I'd say it's because most of them never beat the Dubs any year so they think we might as well lose up there than lose in our own back yard.

The managers should take them to an Ulster 1st round game to see what atmosphere and home fans can give a team. The atmosphere in Donegal 2 years ago and also the atmosphere down in Killarney a few years back was a huge boost to the home team.

Meath and Kildare especially would have a much better chance of beating the Dubs in their own back yard than kicking 40 yard frees towards the hill.

The Dubs themselves hate this noose around their neck but now with their team being as good as it has ever been I don't think it would matter any more. I'd say if they played Kerry down in Kerry we would see a very different type of game.
