Slight technical hitch on last post!!!

20k in the context of what Dublin get every year is small potatoes indeed.

Considering the fact that this is one of the biggest games Donegal have ever played, then 20k to get preparations right is money well spent.

What about the 800k it took for you to win the AI in 2012? Where did you get that from?

20K and the rest...... If this was once then you could understand the point, but it's not as if this is the only time they take these training camps.  Donegal are spending just as much, if not more than most counties, but why should McGuinness allow facts get in the way of a rant or dig at the dubs.

Not sure, but do I remember contributing.

You're the foreign sugar daddy, aren't you, J70?

How much did that ticket levy raise back then?

What "rant" what "dig"?

You have lost me there, are you sure we're talking about the same interview?

McGuinness really has got under a lot of skins, he says anything at all on any subject & fools go off on one all over the place.

Very strange!!!!!

Not doubting you or anything Indiana but where did you get the figure of 800k from?

If we take it that the championship lasts less than 5 months then it works out at about 40,000 a week, every week.

Even allowing for the odd training camp & meal out it seems a tad on the strong side.

I've actually undercut it. It was closer to 1m if the truth be known.

Most of you are missing the important point on investment.

Donegal's spend on the finishing 5% of honing their senior team would up there with the spend of Dublin - they still wouldn't have remotely the same "staff" and "coaching" as the Dubs but they're up there.

The important distinction is the investment in producing footballers, i.e. the finance to place coaches to work with schools, clubs, development squads, etc. Any argument that clubs part or significantly self fund their own coaches actually makes the point.

Counties like Donegal must hoard and obsessively develop any potentially top class player and then they must maximise the output of every player - plugging as many willing workers as possible around whatever quality they can muster. Would a 17 year old Paddy McBrearty have made the Dublin team? He still wouldn't be on it.

Dublin, because of the investment in coaching and player development, have a conveyor belt of quality that no county will match from here on. However, they will only ever have 15 on the pitch at a time and, frequently or infrequently, teams with much less depth and quality with good coaches will out think and/or out work them. It's not and probably never will be a level playing field though.

Again I have to ask, where does that figure come from?

The very fact that it goes from 800k to 1m in a couple of hours is a little suspect
