Alright lads, hopefully someone can help me out..

Anybody have any recommendations for the various Electricity and Gas providers for a house in the Greater Belfast area? Are they all pretty much the same price?

Thanks in advance.

I know one person who switched during the summer and it is a lot more expensive than bill pay. Avoid.
I'm gonna show you as gently as I can how much you don't know.

What are your options Art? I thought it was just Power NI v Airtricity (believe Airtricity to be cheaper) and Phoenix v Firmus (believe Firmus to be cheaper).

I have electricity with Budget Energy, I think they are the cheapest but there isn't much in it & Firmus for gas.

I'm thinking of changing from oil to gas heating. My options is either Airtricity or Firmus. Coin toss?

I think that's about it Tony, though the Budget Energy crowd Minder mentions seem to be the cheapest in Electricity.

On Budget Energy myself, switched to them back in July with the last round of price increases. On keypad meters they're 11% cheaper than Power NI & Airtricity and 7.5% for quarterly bill customers. No complaints about them myself, switching over was painless.
Any one-off costs etc. to change? With Airtricity at the minute.

Cheers Fionn. Will get the missus to investigate further as that is her domain.

Surely all queries on  utilities should be referred to the Consumer Council?

Same as that, plus you are not tied in. To get Airtricitys best unit price you need to be locked in for 1-2 years.
