Can someone point me to the part of the gospels which deal with same sex marriage and gay relationships? note gospels...the old testament is really open to all sorts of interpretations.

There are indirect references in the Gospels. Jesus referred to many parts of 'scripture' as the Word of God. No mention of being allowed to cherry-pick.

So everything from eating pork to this sort of stuff applies:

'If anyone curses his father or mother, he must be put to death.'

'For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death.'

IMHO I think the Unions should be pushing recognition of the last one.

There are core messages running through the Bible that are clear and non negotiable. Why anyone remains in the Catholic Church while disagreeing with a significant proportion of its well defined and unambiguous beliefs (including those pertaining to homosexuality and contraception) is beyond me.

You're a bit old to believe in fairy stories, are you not?

Typical arrogance from the non believers!
