I posed the question on twitter there if Clerkin was the first ever Dick to win an Ulster Cship medal.A quick witted respondent reminded me that Joe Brolly was the first dick to win one in 1993!

Interesting fact:

Dick's da named him Dick as he hated the way some names were shortened and wanted to make sure that didn't befall Dick.
