Why the feck do Irish passports get sent back to Ireland from the states? I have been waiting for three months for mine, the 25th anniversary is on August 16th and I want me and the enemy to bugger off together for two week's in the sun.  :'(

Stew - I fedexed my form and old passport to the brother, he sent it to dublin, was renewed, sent back to him and sent back to me within 7 weeks from the date I shipped it. It tells you on the consulate website that they are going to send it back to Ireland.

Posted my passport application off via the Post Office in Belfast on 11 May, got it back today. Arrived with them on 13th & it sat there until last Friday, when suddenly it was checked, processed & printed to keep in with the 10 working days deadline - was able to track it online.

Note that from June 30 all postal applications will have to be submitted through the Passport Express service at the post office instead of ordinary or registered mail.
I think the postal applications were often half baked and had to be returned for more information in most cases.
