Both Brian Whelahan and Brian Corcoran have won hurling allstars in defence and forwards, whereas wee Tommy Welsh has won allstars in the defence, forwards and midfield, some boyo is tommy.

IIRC Brian Whelahan won his forwards one after a bit of controversy, he was getting a bit of a working in the first few minutes of the AI that year and was moved to full forward after about 15 minutes where he then scored 1-6 from play. The only time he ever played there for Offaly.

Was it Whelahan that one year got 'Player of the Year' and did not get an All Star?

Yeah something like that, he was also the only still playing hurler to get on the team of the millennium as well.

Hound

Smokey Joe McNally played in goal, midfield and most forward positions for the Dubs and he was/is rounder than anyone!

Shane Ryan played pretty much every position from 2 to 12 for the Dubs too.

He was also dying of the flu that day in fairness to him. McEvoy would not normally put Sid in his pocket.

Both correct. I think he won player of the year in 1994 and didn't get an All Star. The year of the 5 minute final. Davy Clarke from Limerick got it instead. (Or Kevin Martin from Offaly if you were to put Whelehan in at #7).

True enough, but he certainly gave the flu the 'one, two' when moved to full forward.

Seriously!! An all rounder is someone like Teddy McCarthy a midfield general who played that position in hurling and football. Will not see his kind again!
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea

Jinxy

He only played midfield though.
One trick pony.
If you were any use you'd be playing.

Alan Kerins would be another one that could fit in there.

All-Ireland club in both Football (Salthill) and Hurling (Clarinbridge)

Senior All-Ireland Football in 2001 - We wont mention the lost Hurling Finals!  :-[

Yeah was going to mention him, he beat us in the All Ireland club final (Salthill) wasn't great that day but brilliant in the hurling final. Would there be many Galway lads like that? I know Cork have a right few through the years Dublin also but Kerins would be the only dual player I'd remember form Galway

The only other one right now would be Daithi Burke who was at 6 for the U21 footballers this year taht won the All-Ireland tehre a few weeks back.  He was outstanding for Turloughmore in the club hurling championship down here last year and I wouldn't rule him out of appearing in a senior hurling jersey in the very near future.  He plays his football with Claregalway.
