Very interesting programme on BBC Four.  Watch it on the iplayer.

Do you see any gap in the market? I reckon there is a demand for:

- Slater Soup
- Beetle Burgers
- Mashed Eariwigs
- Ladybird Icecream

Put them all through a blender and add some artificial flavouring and bob's your uncle. The government should be sponsoring this sort of thing.

How long before the Larry Goodman-owned insect plants will be putting bluebottle meat into the beeburgers?

Not if Stephen Fry's reaction is anything to go by.

He had this as a topic on an episode of QI. He was trying to get Sara Millican to try some insect treats and instead she got him to try a chocolate coated ant.
He was fine for a few minutes then nearly puked it back up again.  Not a good advert.

Saw that QI episode.  The presenter had the same reaction when he ate a large waterboatman beetle!!  Ate Tarantulas later and loved them.

Further on in the programme he was in a school where the students had platefulls of stirfried crickets.  No bother and children coming back for more.

Very small carbon footprint, almost pure protein and little feeding required.  As  Hardy said, I hope Larry Goodman wasn't watching.

Seen a lot of fried, coated insects at an outdoor market in Shanghai once, hadn't the balls to try any of it, but the locals were horsing into it the very best.

It makes a whole lot of sense and would only take a generation. If infants are fed the stuff, they'll be happy to eat it all their lives.

Cutting down on waste is more likely to work . We throw away an awful lot of stuff.
