Keep harping on about it but Longford's grounds are top notch. Perfect size and a lovely wraparound stand in front of the tv cameras.

Are you viewing Pearse Park from what it looks like on Tv?. A tight little ground with the strangest terrace ive even seen. I have usually been over in the stand side so had a good view of what it looks like.

It would be good to start putting some photos of the various grounds. I know the website World Stadiums has a few pics of GAA grounds but they're not great
Careful now

I'll get one of El Hydio at the weekend. Any other takers?

Never thought I would hear myself saying these 3 words but "I like Armagh". Great ground with a great buzz. Someone asked if theMarshes was ever all ticket...nearly sure that it was that night we handed Tyrone their arses in THAT game;-)

Agreed on this. The Athletic Grounds are the right size, and the stands at either side to help lock the noise in for smaller attendances. You're right on top of the pitch too, which helps.

There's been some money wasted by the GAA on giant concrete bowls over the years.

It really shouldn't have been that hard to:

  • Have a primary ground of 35k+ in the main provincial cities of Dublin, Cork, Belfast and Galway. For provincial finals, International rules, major regional games. The majority of which would be all seater.
  • Have a secondary (all seater) ground of max 25k on the opposite side of each province, perhaps in Mullingar, Limerick, Omagh, and Sligo. For provincial semis, schools finals, January competition finals. For comfort in the winter too.
  • Enforce a maximum capacity of 12-15k in the other county grounds. For league games, club finals, and smaller Championship games, with at least 50% seated.

Any cries from counties of "we want to host our own Championship matches" should have fallen on death ears. The more neutral we can make the Championship arrangements, the better, imho.

Some very valid points there Wobbler!!

Celtic Park at 18-20k was madness. We are the worst county supporters in the country. An all seater of 8-10k could probably have been built for the same cost!

we were not badly supported back in the day!!!suppose the oul concerte slabs had to be replaced like with a seated covered stand, but i don't think it increased capacity by that much.
