wondering if anyone could recommend a good, comprehensive travel insurance for my folks (over 65's) that want to head off to the states this easter.
VHI quote is €180 for both of them, multi trip insurance.

thats more than double what I pay, I know the premium goes up because they are over 65, but if anyone knows of a decent policy in the south- please reply.
TIA

VHI already gives world wide health insurance on most policies and if you buy the tickets using certain credit cards they cover the insurance of the tickets. Airlines now have obligations for lost bags etc. IMHO no need for anything else. Most people pay for coverage for things they are already covered for.

I've used insure and go (insureandgo.com) in the past for my parents and they're good enough priced, never had to claim from them thankfully.

I wouldn't go without travel insurance going to the USA. The 65000 or 100000 that health insurance policy covers mightn't last long if someone had a serious illness or accident over there and had to spend a good bit of time in hospital.

If they're in the north and have no underlying health issues try post office insurance. Any underlying issues forget post office...I'll get you the name of specialist insurers.

Google 'travel insurance over 65 ireland', and there might be a few possibilities worth investigating there.
Carlsberg don't do Gombeenocracies, but by jaysus if they did...

The VHI travel insurance is an add-on to the cover provided. A general travel insurance would not be better value as it would be covering you twice, so you need one that discounts that you already have a measure of health cover.  The likes of [urlhttp://www.aceinsure.ie/premium.asp?tab=3&region=world&who=couple ]Ace[/url] seem to charge a similar price.
If at first you don't succeed, then goto Plan B

120 annual multi trip with AA insurance (yes the car crew) covering both parents is he best so far.
