I'm reminded of a certain poster on here who thought the GAA should be concerned at the accusations levelled against a prominent journalist of some standing in the association and how this reflected on the GAA as a whole. I wonder whether this poster was on rugby boards saying he'd never be able to look at the IRFU in the same way again thanks to Davy Tweed.

Ahem

Sorry it is gaaboard.com isn't it?

You didn't identify the GAA as being central to the issue of rural criminality in your original post. I too think you have ulterior motives.

Welome to the board.

You must realise if an established poster, even though anonymous, with a proven history on the site regarding his club, county, etc states that a club near him is receiving funds illegally that is one thing. However when a new poster mentions it that is something different.

I suppose, getting back to the topic, there were a lot of robberies around my neck of the pre-Christmas, some of the culprits had to have local knowledge, (2 unoccupied houses robbed, each side of an occupied one, owners in both houses had gone out for a few hours) and so on. Heard earlier this week that a family who were burying their mother, had their house turned over while they were at the funeral. Despite, what is said by some, the people who are carrying out these crimes are locals who have knowledge or are passing it on to others.

In my area now if there is a funeral or wedding, neightbours drive around the area, keeping an eye out. Also the amount of people, renewing or getting gun licences is unbelievable, it is only a matter of time before there is another "Nally" incident.

As for Garda cover in my area, we still have a garda locally, but his catchment area is massive, so locals are begining to police the areas themselves, be it good or bad.
