Garage at bottom of Antrim road on LHS as you drive up from carlisle circus, I'm sure there's closer but I've used that one. Tenner.

No need to get a MOT wash unless you drive around fields and the car is completely bogging underneath.

Agree...but you could be unlucky enough to get some jobsworth who won't look at it unless it is spotless....

Wrong. I have seen cars turned away that are not that dirty but if the examiner can not see the surface of the brake pipes he will fail it. Most cars will have accumulated enough dirt in 12 months to justify an MOT wash. An MOT wash is £10 - £15 where as a resit fee is £18.50..... Do the math.

Never had an MOT wash and never failed in 15 years for having a dirty under carriage and my yolks have been down plenty of mucky trials.

I live in the country and this time of the year the roads are particulary bad, anyhows went up the newtownards road - 11.50 happy days!

Correct. The brother-in-law had his motor turned away and they were good enough to let him go out and get it MOT washed and come back without failing him. Needless to say he gets it MOT washed every year now.

I had an MOT Wash just before going to the MOT Centre once and nearly failed a brake test as a result according to the assesor.

He said that the water would have got into the brakes (or something along those lines) and was affecting performance.
He was pretty sound about it and retested 3 times and they eventually passed. He said not to get the wash too close to the actual test.
