I will be in Greece this weekend (Thessaloniki) and will miss the match.  I'm bringing my laptop but I have a feeling that RTE don't allow GAA matches to be watched live from outside the country.  Could someone confirm if this understanding is correct?

The other possibility is to find a place in Thessaloniki that will be broadcasting the match. I know it's a long shot, but if anyone knows how I might find such a place, I would very much appreciate your help.

Thanks

RTE streaming will be geo-blocked. only available to an Irish IP address ..

You could use one of the many programs available to give you an Irish IP address and then  RTE streaming should work ..

Alternatively, Setanta will be streaming the game internationally for a fee :

Other options is to look for a free stream on one of the free sports streaming sites like

Using an Irish proxy won't work - the RTE player checks the IP header.

Off topic altogether, but are you the Hollymount-Carramore Carramore or the parish of Knockmore Carramore, or neither?

I posted this on the computer help thread...

I've noticed a few people on here using UK/Ireland based VPN services for accessing RTE player/Skygo etc... while not in the UK/Ireland. I was abroad last week and setup a VPN on my Windows 7 PC in the house. I had to leave it on while I was away but I was able to get it working and RTE player worked perfectly when I was away. Might save some of you a few quid as doing it yourself is free

Thanks everyone for all the advice.   As it happens, a group of us listened to the match live on RTE Radio, via someone's iPhone.  The result was all the mattered.  The pleasure of watching the recording of the match awaits me on my return home.  Maigh Eo Abu!!

In answer to the question on the origin of Carramore:  no, it's neither.  I think there's a Carramore in nearly every parish in Ireland.  Actually, my own parish isn't Carramore, but the name of my parish was already taken on some of the websites that I've joined (didn't check the gaaboard website when registering).
