Better performance from Armagh than last week, the championship doesn't seem to be so bad after today's performance even more so now that we had 9 different scorers today in particular. Hopefully McKeever's injury isn't too bad. Couldn't believe my eyes when McEvoy kicked it long in the last minute, could have cost us a valuable point. Not a bad game on the whole, very clean neither team can have many complaints and 32 points scored.

Can somebody shed some light on where Jamie is going?

One of the strangest points I've ever seen. By your logic if Armagh had won the kickout and scored he would have been the man rsponsible for the win.

Also ill assume that you watched on TV because those at the games will have noticed long ago that our defenders attempt to make themselves available for short kickouts once in a blue moon.  Which is a problem.  So with no defenders available for a short kick out do you think he should have tried it anyway?

My view on game is that he did well. Good save in first. We destroyed them in ten minutes after break. Lost shape when mckeever went off. Defenders are being pulled all over by opposition forwards  Clarkes free was worth the admission alone. The Derry full forward   I haven't seen much of him in person so far but he has the makings of an outstanding player.

I do agree, we could have also won the game, but I think we need to play the odds and defenders need to make themselves available. I guess it is just one of those situations that can be successful or costly. Apart from that the team is improving which is great to see.

Absolutly.  Was just pointing out he has no option but to kick long if defenders don't make themselves available.  There has to be a short kick strategy of some description put in place though. Our past two management teams seem to have no interest in them.

League sunday just after showing some highlights, a lot of good scores by both teams.

Some woman was doing the crap commentating. Liked the way she mentioned at the start that armagh made the 'short hop' to celtic park to play derry, a journey that is 90-mins to 2 hours from most of armagh!

Ain't no 't' in McParland, Mrs; though she's not the only one who makes this annoying error.

Any news on McKeever?

Should be alright according to some fella on the Armagh forum. Sounds like McCooey will be out for a while, though.

Great news. Thought he would have been out for a while with the way he was walking.

As others have said there were a lot of encouraging signs on Saturday night. Our midfield competed well for long periods against a good Derry MF.  There are obvious signs of a game plan based on good early kick passing when the opportunity is there.  In fairness this Armagh team has a fair few good kick passers of the ball in Ciaran, Dyas, AK and Aidan Forker.  I was also impressed by some of the kick passing from Caolan Rafferty and James Lavery. Grimley could clearly be heard encouraging the forwards to push up on the Derry defence when they had the ball.  A tactic that got us a fair proportion of our early scores.
The spine of our defence is a concern as Donaghy looks to be struggling with his injury and James Donnelly had his poorest outing to date.  That said, they will not come across players of the quality of Emmet McGuckin and Kielt this year again in the league.  They were very impressive.  AK is clearly carrying an injury and may have to be rested.
Overall it was quite a high standard given the conditions and there are reasons for optimism for both teams.
Keep your pecker hard and your powder dry and the world will turn.

Not everything worked for Armagh, but you could see that they were trying and even the trying was easier to look at than the aimless efforts of the recent past. Let's hope that they can refine their system and get everyone fit and competing for places.
