Lads I have a Sat Nav which was bought for me by my kids. I have it about 2 years and I have updated the maps etc. I have only used it a few times to destinations I was unsure off. My problem is that it takes forever to locate my current location, this occurs no matter where I'm stopped. Its a Tom Tom and it can take ten minute to find my location. Any suggestions on how I could improve this performance?

i have a tom tom also and its exactly the same. Its got to the stage where i just don't bother using it, i just stick to a paper map. I  tried to use it when i was on holidays in the usa but there was a problem with the download. Tom tom customer service just didnt want to know even though i was charged about 50 quid for the maps and the device wasnt able to display the info. If i decide to use a sat nav again i will be buying a garmin.

I think there is some GPS fix which you can install on it. I can remember doing this to mine one time in the last few years.
