People were murdered while they watched their team play on TV. The team is remembering these supporters on the anniversary of the massacre. Simple as that and only controversial because some muppets declared it so. No more different than Liverpool remembering hillsborough.

How do you know they were watching "their team" on TV?
I knew one of the victims - and he had no interest whatever in soccer - this was his local where he went regularly - there could have been darts or kickboxing on for all he cared - he went for his quiet pint and a bit of chat and was brutally murdered.
It is a tenuous and I have to say one-sided attitude that gives rise to this FAI move, however well iintentioned.
A decent man who believed he was serving his community by joining the police was murdered on the same day. Who can say whther he had an interest in this "beautiful game" or otherwise.
How many of those supporting this gesture even know he died or remember his name?
We can skew our sense of injustice so easily in this tiny island without regard to our neighbours.
I don't blame the relatives; if I was related I think I would (a) welcome this gesture and (b) ask those who are behind it if they would care to remember others as well.

Who are you talking about when you say the people behind it?The only people behind it are the families and their legal team,as for the cop that was shot I am sure he will be remembered by those who care for him and sure he has the George Cross.
I would normally applaud this decision by the FAI, but when I find myself in agreement with hate-filled merchants like your self, instinctively I rush to embrace the opposing arguments. Down with this sort of thing.
That makes you as stupid as those who are voting No in the treaty just to give the government a bloody nose.

A low nasty comment. Shame on you.

Catch yourself on,what have I to be ashamed about?I was replying to Leo that the only people who asked for this gesture of the FAI were the families of those who were murdered in Loughinisland by the UVF in collusion with the RUC.He asked why nobody was remembering the RUC man who was killed that day and I said that he would be remembered by his family and friends,he also has his name on a plaque in Knock headquarters,in the RUC memorial garden and has been awarded the George Cross for being a member of that organisation.Sorry if your offended but I think the Loughinisland families just want their loved ones remembered in a small way on the 18th anniversary of their murder.

O.K. Sorry if i took something out of your comment that wasn't meant to be there. As i said before about the people they are remembering, i think it's a nice touch. No one should read any more into it.

Leo

Look Dillinger. That's fair enough and resaonable comment
And on all sides we have our moments

But no matter how many families support this move its is still a mindfied and the FAI have walked straight into it.

Give it a couple of years and you will be on here saying ....."I told you so".
Fierce tame altogether

Fair enough Leo, i know what you mean. The I.F.A. won't be doing any armbands, can't see any reason why. Unless we play the Germans on the 1st of July.

But not as dumb as those voting yes because the government say we'll be heading into "uncertainty" if we vote no. Like everything has been and will be grand. I can't make up my mind if they are liars or idiots.
