Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Peru beat Venezuela 4 – 1 tonight in the 3rd place playoff Guerrero scored a hat trick & now looks a good bet to finish top goalscorer.

When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.

2-0 Forlan 3-0 Forlan again

For a Country with a smaller population than ours they have a fine record in major tournaments.
The key to success is to be consistently competitive -- if you bang on the door often it will open

Saw most of that final last night and even though I really do not enjoy international soccer this was a joy to watch. Uruguay are a fantastic team. It shows their performance at the World Cup was no fluke of form. Their workrate and organisation are exemplary and they have some very skilful players to boot, Suarez and Forlan being the obvious examples. The key thing though is the work they do and it makes things look simple for them when they are on the ball. I cannot understand how Arevalo Rios is playing club football in Mexico - he is the best defensive midfielder I've seen in ages. Maybe the team structure makes him look better than he is but I wouldn't mind having him at United!

With European focus usually trained on Brazil and Argentina we tend to forget about Uruguay's proud history in soccer. Fair play to them.

Paraguay must be the most boring team in the world.

Anyone know why FIFA referees were officiating at the tournament?  Saw Blatter on the podium last night. Should it not be under the auspices of COMEBOL?
