Yes Pat Spillane despite your assertions a few weeks ago we are not in fact "gone". A good 1st half performance laid the foundations and despite Waterford bring it back level with the help of some dreadful refereeing decisions from Reilly I always thought we had enough in us. Stephen Kelly is playing some great stuff at the moment. Collins and Ryan were quiet last night but conditions didnt really suit them and if you were to take the positives out of it we won with both having quite games. Good spread of scores across the forward line.

We will be written of as usual by the "experts" but that wont faze the lads. The amount of players they have unavailable through one reason or another is massive but they are getting on with things and we will go into the game with confidence. Our forwards are looking sharp and Tommy Stack coming out of retirement is a big help although he is a doubt for next week after being taken off injured last night. Hopefully the powers that be put the match on in Thurles as part of a triple header with the hurling. The miles have been clocked up between the footballers and hurlers route through the qualifiers but both are still involved so happy days!

Well done Limerick.  They seem to like the qualifiers.  Sounds like it was an exciting finish.

Well done limerick I am amazed with the result . I thought Wexford would beat them by 7 plus . Some County for sport

Sounded a dramatic finish, Limerick scored 1-1 in injury-time.
Ian Ryan's free at the end was signalled wide by an umpire but ref Derek Fahy overruled him.

Could nearly guess who Dublin are going to get in tomorrows draw.

Kerry but I'd say they would have preferred Dublin.

End of the road?  I'd say all the neutrals will be rooting for Limerick.  Will they get anyone back from the Hurling panel?

Haven't posted in a long time but I had to come on to say fair play to Limerick for a great win in Portlaoise last night.

I thought it was a cracking game of football, and the atmosphere in O'Moore Park was electric, with the small but dedicated band of football supporters from two traditional hurling counties getting right behind their teams.

The game had everything, great scores, great fielding, red card, loads of controversy, mistakes of course, but full-blooded commitment from all players on the pitch, and the fitness of both teams was very impressive. The speed of some of the Limerick attackers was breathtaking. Stevie Kelly I'm well aware of since the day he destroyed us at the same venue years ago in a Div 2B semi-final (and he doesn't seem to have lost any of it), but there were two or three other Limerick players who just left defenders in their wake with their speed.

Obviously I was distraught at the way we lost it, but looking back it was just a fantastic night of Championship football, and I couldn't begrudge Limerick the win and their first quarter-final appearance. I have a soft spot for the Limerick footballers, simply because they're in the same boat as ourselves, just can't make the breakthrough to claim Senior provincial honours despite coming so close. Limerick in fairness have come closer than we have, but still no silverware to show for it.

I'm gutted that they've got Kerry - off ALL TEAMS!! - in the quarters. But who knows, maybe this is the day they'll finally get across the line against the Kingdom. I'll be roaring them on anyway.

For WX, a disappointing end to a fairly fruitful season. We have to learn how to win these close games. Hopefully a few U-21s will step up now next season and bring their winning mentality with them. Ultimately it was a season of missed opportunities, but hopefully the boys can bounce back. They've done it many times before. A few of the stalwarts will be another year older, the likes of Red, Morris, Bradley, Murphy(s), and they'll be irreplacable, so if we're going to make that breakthrough in Leinster, it's going to have to be soon .... can't sign off without paying tribute to Brian Malone and Adrian Flynn who were simply magnificent in this year's Championship.

Thanks lads, and chin up for next year.

Very grascious in defeat i'd be spitting fire if it happened to the Saffrons.

As for Stephen Kelly that man can move. First saw him in the league in the gaelic grounds in 2003 and couldnt believe the pace of him. Kept an eye out for him since and fair play to him he's still motoring and now is in the AI QF (although Kerry is an awful draw--a non event really and waste of TV time as without John Galvin i can only see Kerry winning by as much as Kerry want to win by)

Who was the blocky sub that came on for Limerick?
If you were any use you'd be playing.
