We just cant help it eg 'take that' are playing Dublin this weekend and its big. while I'm neither a fan nor am i going I'm hearing that Dublin hotels have trebled their prices for the concert ::) sweet jez they're supposed to be trying to drum up trade.. The lawnseed family are holidaying in ireland this summer and already I'm dreading it. These furkers aren't happy unless they're taking you to the cleaners and its not just the south here in the wee north prices for cottages to rent etc are more expensive than GB.
i thought people in the holiday trade would realise that value for money is the main driving force in deciding the destination. (we are sharing cottage.. otherwise it would be lanzorote)

Plenty of value for money to be had holidaying in Kabul, not much to be had in Paris. Guess which is more popular?

Greed is what caused the mess Ireland is in, I would let the bastrads keep their stinking Room  and stay outside the city.

its not that long ago a guy was telling me that he stayed in a dublin city hotel for his wedding anniversary where he splashed out abit including raiding the mini bar. anyway when he was checking out his bill was going to be around 300 euro, when he produced his credit card he was asked had he any cash on him. he had 180 euro cash and they took it.. these greedy beestards are skint and working in the black economy and yet when presented with a great opportunity to show what they've got they spoil it by putting the boot in. they dont deserve any trade

Its very simple - supply & demand !! I was going to go to Dublin for the weekend but when I seen the price of the hotels online  for this weekend I said fcuk that - We'll take a weekend some other time when prices are more reasonable!

i think that's lawnseed's point. If everyone took your attitude the greedy bastrads would be made suffer, but unfortunately it doesnt; happen.

airlines are the same. i bought my flights for cardiff for £70 quid hours after they became available last Oct for this years H Cup final. They were double within hours and £300 dearer weeks later.

If people are stupid enough to pay into a take that concert, then the hoteliers will see them coming.

There is one born every minute, and many of them are Irish, we have allowed ourselves to be ripped off for years, and in these recessionary times, the rip off merchants are getting greedier, the tourist industry in this country is a prime example, value for money my ass, low standards, high prices, abominable service, and at a time when the industry is crying about the surfeit of vacant hotel beds, do they ever ask themselves why

spuds

Greatest shower of moaning wimmen here, every city in the world does the same when demand is high. You think hotels in London didn't do same for weekend of Champions league final when English rugby union cup final on along with Chelsea flower show and Mayo/London match !! If not happy keep moving. As someone said supply and demand.
Was up in Dublin few weeks ago and was surprised how cheap food was in city centre compared to what it used to be.

This is the key.

The first few seats and hotel rooms are dirt cheap. The next few are a bit dearer and the last few are over the top expensive. Those last rooms are the ones the media are harping on about but they didn't all cost that much.

Supply and demand.

Maybe the people renting your cottage realise they have enough beds to attract two families and on that basis what they are offering is good value for money especially when you arrive with a boot load of groceries and wine from tescos to do you the week. At the most your house will cost you 350-400 quid. Add in a few euros for pints and ice creams and it's a hell of alot cheaper relative to what you'd pony out if you were in lanzarote....at a guess a third of the price I'd say?
