There were untrue rumour floating around last night and today but he's fine. Attended a Fianna Fáil front bench meeting this morning according to one journalist on twitter.

For the second day in a row: Brian Lenihan rumours are totally false. Can confirm he has just attended a meeting of the FF frontbench.
I hope so, for all his poor decisions and intransigence, I don't think he was in politics for personal gain.

He probably wasn't personally but the country would have been far better served if FF had resigned en masse in 2009.
The hanging on for dear life when they were ideologically bankrupt led to the bailout.  I hope he's okay but that that is the last generation of Lenihans to serve the country .

The guarantee led to the bailout, they'd have needed to have resigned with Bert in April 2008.  What bothered me most about Lenihan was his refusal to countenance other options to NAMA when clearly better options were put forward.  He seemed to be of the opinion that he had to stick with that option because that's the one he selected as the solution initially.
As it turns out, for the legal and the accountancy profession, it's been a winner.  I noticed that PWC had seconded 4 members of staff at 60K per week to NAMA!!!

Maybe in retrospect but the bond yields didn't show it until May last year. FF destroyed a lot of political capital foostering around like headless chickens. They were too damaged by their corrupt embrace with the makers of the mess to have been able to contribute anything to cleaning it up.
