Belfast's Odyssey Arena is hosting this year's MTV Europe Music Awards in early November, although an exact date hasn't been announced.

MTV has also announced plans to host a series of local events around Belfast in the lead up to the EMAs.

The Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Pat Convery, said: "It is fitting that the EMAs are coming to Belfast, one of Europe's most exciting and vibrant cities and with around 35% of our population below the age of 25.

"Belfast has a rich musical history and has produced artists such as Snow Patrol and the legendary Van Morrison and we now have an unprecedented opportunity to shine a spotlight on our musical heritage while also providing a major boost to our economy.

"I am delighted that MTV has chosen Belfast.

"The decision to host such a world class event in our city is an endorsement of what we have been saying for some time now. Belfast is a happening place."

I remember the one in Dublin. Hosted by Ronan Keating, spouting a load of paddywhackery it was cringe-worthy.  And we also had Marilyn Manson come on and shake his willy at us.

Still its great that Belfast and Ireland is still attracting these events but these Music/Film/whatever awards are the greatest self self-congratulatory piles of shite ever.
It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016

Radda bout yeee

At the Temple theatre right? That's a few years ago, I was living in Mountjoy Square at the time

If my memory is not playing tricks that night also saw a spat between Shane Lynch of Boyzone and Puff Dady sparking the immortal headline in the sun tabloid.......

Puff Daddy v Tough Paddy

Olly

I remember hearing that MTV used to do up cars, 'pimp' them. I wonder will they be doing a bit of servicing when they're over. It'd soon but the local mechanics on the back foot and reduce the crazy price structure. I left my car in last week to get the lights aligned and the man charged me £200 because he said one of the lights needed a new bolt or something. Bastards.
