I'd love to know just why they're so popular, must be because people want to retain the status quo or the closest thing to it.  Better the devil you know eh?

To be honest I fail to see why they are not on 51%+ must be some Irish peoples fear of breaking with the muppets in Fianna Fáil and harking on to a long gone Civil War.

Perhaps if people actually saw them as an alternative or something different they might be - FF are still only on 16%, FG are obviosly doing plenty wrong.

I doubt if it has anything to do with popularity, probably the opposite. People know this will be painful and the rest seem to pretend it won't be for their voters.
