Whats the best route to get from the airport to Adelaid Road/Harcourt street?

Canalman

Many ways to go. If you are not too familiar with Dublin my advice to you would be to take M50 southbound (toll to be paid), get off the Tallaght turnoff, stay in left lane and go through on a straightish road through Spawell, Terenure, Rathgar, Rathmines (veer left at Garda station) and over Canal. Plenty of other ways but this imo is the simplest (maybe not the most direct).

I usually hang a left past the Aul Triangle pub, it takes you down Gardiner Street.  Go right down to the very bottom of that and it comes out near Busaras, turn left and the road leads onto a bridge over the river.  Keep going straight and it'll take you onto Pearse St, follow round Trinity and follow the N11 signs, should bring you out on Merrion Sq and down onto Leeson St.  Turn right before the canal for Adelaide Rd.  I am on Harcourt St, stop by and say hi .

From Croke Park, go down NCR past the sunset pub and turn right at the 5 lamps down Amiens street.  Past Connolly station, the IFSC and over the bridge.  Keep to the left and turn down the quays.

Take the 1st right turn.  You pass the Windjammer pub, Pearse street station (Trinity is on your right) and keep going.  At the top of Pearse st., turn left and the immediately right (in front of you is a big hotel).

At the next crossroads (Mon Clar Hotel on your right) turn left.  Go down the square (can't remember the name).  You'll come to some traffic lights at Holles St. hospital and turn right.  At that point keep going straight.  You'll go through Baggot street junction, onwards towards Leeson Street junction (there is a Kiosk sell papers etc) and go through that.

On that road is the old Adelaide Hospital and if you keep going straight you'll end up at the old Harcourt Streen station.

Hope this helps.

It's been 5 years since I lived in Dublin but this seems an awful round about way of getting there? I think you've a few left and rights mixed up and are confusing Westland Row with Pearse st?
Apologies in advance if I've got it wrong, like I said it's been 5 years, but I lived there for over 10 years and was always driving to the Southside from the North

gallsman

M1, Swords Road, left at Griffith, right at Grace Park, left at the bottom onto Richmond, right at the lights and then first left immediately after bridge, right onto Amiens Street, straight down an across Talbot Bridge, left along the quay, right at Lombard Street, straight up past Trinity on Westland Row, round Merrion Square, up onto Leeson Street and right at the canal. Boom.

Rois might well get you arrested, as the bit of Pearse Street in front of the Garda station is buses and access only and College Green is buses and taxis only at some times of the day.

Denn Forever and Gallsman have the right idea, with variations. Go past Busaras, whether from Gardiner St or Amiens St is a matter of personal preference. Cross the river and go left along City quay, then right into Lombard St towards Westland Row, then bear left into Merrion Square, go in front of the National Gallery and turn left into Merrion Sq North, then right into Fitzwilliam St and carry on across Baggot St, Fitzwilliam Sq and Leeson St and you are in Adelaide Road. Eh voilĂ !

If at first you don't succeed, then goto Plan B

Eh, in my head I was thinking the same as DF. I do the journey every Mon morn these days through a variety of routes in a taxi and usually come the College Green way down George St but as you pointed out, taxi and bus only. Just follow signs for N11, best advice if like me you follow roadsigns.

Ye know what, he's prob there already! Came the reverse way to Connolly today.
