Would you go for a few beers after playing in a match?

Yes
No
Only if we win
Only if I played well
Only if someone else is buying

QuoteI would love to have a few jars after some games, but in Derry they have nearly all games on sunday evenings, which is a joke.  Work the next day just puts you enough the idea.

you should get to down, friday night football, I've seen us go on the rip for 3 days if we win a big derby game as you have all weekend to do it

Two boys in are club are from Down, and they are always harping on about the friday night games.  Wish the cccc in Derry would sort it out.  These boys are doing yous good service with their checked shirts and shit kicker boots on, anytime we do get a chance to go out for some pints  ;D

There's already enough demands on senior footballers these days without playing games on Sundays and killing their every weekend.

Friday night games in our county was brought in as an experiment in the mid-eighties - games could be played then so long as they both teams agreed - and rolled out in full around the turn of that decade.

This isn't a drinking thing. Anyone with a family should spend most of their sunny summer afternoons with their kin, and not forced into giving up 5-6 hours on long away trips to chasing a bag of leather around a pitch.

Down County Board get a fair amount of flak (most of it unwarranted and laced with personal agendas) but as a general rule they understand the needs of clubs footballers and do what they can to facilitate them.
