Q:  How slowly can the National Anthem be sung?

Judging by the renditions before Ulster games in particular it has morphed from a military march to a funereal requiem.  Are these cailini commenting on what is about to happen??

Memo to Ulster Council:  FFS crank it up a bit and get on with the game!!

Yea, we need to give it the Jedward treatment.

Who ya gonna call...laochra fail!!

In general I don't agree with the trend for teenage girls to sing the anthem, especially unaccompanied by the band. With a largely male crowd this inhibits any attempt to join in (which may be the intention!).

As someone said at Casement the anthem set the pace for Armagh's performance.

Once and for all, can somebody please explain to me what a "gael" is? Having established that, can we then define a "true gael"

A gael is a person who thinks, dreams, lives eats and drinks all things GAA.
A True Gael ( more correctly Fíor Gael) is one who has no time for mickey mouse codes of football like British controlled Soccer (The English,Scottish,Welsh and Irish(N.E) F A's have the same no. of votes on FIFA as the rest of the world) and that abomination of a so called sport that is Rugby.

Now you know.
There you go Hardy, not for the gael or fíor gael silly things like culture, language or music.  I wonder if they have a dress code -

Standard dress is a Club mainly or County shower jacket.
Drink depends on age ... Porther or a small wan( Nordies that's a small whiskey) if you're over 40, Guinness or maybe Beer( Smithwicks) for the under 40s

Oh, you mean a "Wee Wan" ... ;D

As long as the girl is fairly hot then she can drag it out as long as she wants I totally agree with this trend!

All of a Sludden

Would anyone have a phonetic version of Amhran na bhFiann. We`ll have a northern work colleague with us next week who wouldnt have any Irish but says he feels left out not knowing the anthem. His attempt at pronouncing some of the words has to be seen to be believed. He even ended up in Dunleer when he was meant to go to  Dun Laoghaire.
I'm gonna show you as gently as I can how much you don't know.
