Kildare are a great example of having no star players (or one/two if you count doyle/early)
and a system and hard work/team ethic.

Derry have enough players to at least replicate kildares 2010 season - though you wouldnt have thought this by looking at them this year!

Of course I'm taking the p*ss, I agree with you and will always maintain that due to the nature of championship football that a well prepared team with good systems in place and the right attitude will go far. Kildare as you point out are the perfect example.

I think the only other person was Peter Doherty as O'Rourke and Barton pulled out , Scullion was not eligble and Baker was staying with Antrim. What surprised me was that the County Board didn't insist on Brennan naming his backroom team. If its true they are Stevenson, McElhome and Conal Sheridan, then thats not an impressive list

I don't know him at all, but I do remember how Cassidy was all that Derry needed. That didn't quite go to plan.
Also, quite possible that Derry will be without the two Bradleys. Any other players opting out/retiring? What age are Muldoon and Doherty?

not quite.
A lot didnt want Cass, more didnt want him 'yet'.
I still think he'd do well enough, but needs more exp and to gain some things imo he lacks.

Doc only about 30 , muldoon 33 or 34 I think - but hes fecked with inj.

Derry still have enough to be better than in recent seasons- which imo isnt too difficult.
