This is for the other Mayo lads or anyone that knows Mayo well.

I have a few guests (3 girls in their early 30's) visiting for a weekend in one of these 3 months, now I need no help being a tourguide for my guests, but I was wondering do any of you lads know any good festivals, races, acts at the TF or elsewhere, plays etc. going on over this time.

Castlebar will be the base, so its basically Mayo stuff.

Sorry SS, it has started already ;). Bring them to the Reek, and Nephin. And CĂ©ide Fields. Ballina Festival which is crap is on from the 2nd of July to the 10th, the only good thing about that is the fireworks.

Turlough Museum of Country life if they're into that kind of thing.

Arah frig it, ride all 3 (if no relation) of them if ya can!

There is a good trad music session every thursday at the peyton centre in attymass every thursday in the summer.

As well as Ceide and the reek, Cong and Ashford Castle and Westport for the craic. Leenane is in Galway but it's only jusht and the scenery is fabliss.

The Iceman

Salmon Festival - Ballina.  It is usally on the week of the 12th but this year for some reason they moved it to the week before. If its then there is no better place to be in Mayo IMO than Ballina. Great buzz about the town - things happening every day and every night.
I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight

Never beat the deeler

The Galway Races always worth a shout. And the Arts festival the week before that...

But for the real centrepiece of the holiday:

Some other festivals close to Mayo that might interest? Ballinamore Family Festival  in Leitrim, August 7th to August 14th one of the longest running festival in Ireland been to it a few times great craic! Ballygar Carnival Co Galway running since 1945 i think it's the oldest? It is a festival of entertainment for all ages. Events include, dancing, discos, funfair & might as well mention one of our own Festivals.. Boyle Arts Festival headlined this year by The Coronas  & Ardal O'Hanlon it's runs from 21st of July to 31st

Lived in Castlebar for 6 years & there biggest is the Guinness blues festival!  that was early June Willie Nelson & Status Quo played in it this year & i think Clare island still have a summer Festival going?
The key to success is to be consistently competitive -- if you bang on the door often it will open
