O'Rourke and Spillane are the GAA equivalent of Dana and Johnny Logan who keep trying to talk up their own Eurovision triumphs.

In fairness, O'Rourke doesn't deserve to be lumped in with Spillane.
They need to lose Spillane off the live coverage NOW.
Move him to the evening or something because this being RTE once you're in there, you're in there for keeps.
Stick up for the county man Jinxy anyway!  ;D

He's just as bad as him.

Spillane is like Ian Paisley - shouts and blabbers off what O'Rourke is thinking - and O'Rourke is like Peter Robinson, looking up to him and mildly less critical, but without the wit or dexterity of language to counter Brolly.

McGee is negative - but he is a shrewd analyst of the game.

In fairness, all those are better than the Arseboxer Lyons who doesn't even understand the game and McStay who is just a whinger, can't understand that footballs a mans game and is still bitter about being roughed up in the play ground years ago.

It's time they got some fresh blood in there with some analysts who aren't bitter.

I used to enjoy O'Cinneide (Though don't ask Dara about Kerry or you'll just get the usual party line) and Tohill - (both of whom have played and won far more than Brolly ever did).
At least they also played the game when there was colour TV and both are humble enough to comment with respect for current players doing their best.

Surely there must be better intelligent younger guys out there who know the game worth a punt on?
Paul McGrane? McEntees? Seamus 'The Pony'?

Good piece. I think we all knew it but it's good to see it well put.

It's kind of odd that the pundits mentioned are always excited before a game. Looking forward to watch individual player such as Stevie McDonald, Stevie O'Neill and Gooch. They always pick out great individual performances and battles and then follow it up with bashing both teams and styles of play. They hail these guys as the best ever and then claim they are part of football at it's worse. It's not worth watching post match analysis anymore.

Regardless of what type of football we see in the AI Championship we see it all, and more often than not it's better, in club championships across the country.

Not this season.
They look liked they've been dragged into the studio at gun-point.
If you were any use you'd be playing.

A reasonable article, but that's all. Any twit could argue his point, given the obvious evidence in favour of his position.

Ewan MacKenna (note spelling) is a poor journalist, the weak link in comparison to both Shannon and Enda McEvoy at the Tribune.

John Laverty agrees with me.
