Following my own undercover surveillance operation, I can now reveal the exact dialogue between Reg "Mr Burns" Empey and Sylvia "I'm a Laydeee" Hermon:

Empey "Will you stand as the joint UUP/Conversative candidate for North Down in the next General Electon please?"

Hermon "Shove it up your arse"

Orior was not far off the mark as usual I see  ;)

I think her exact reply was "Shove it up your arse, Tory scum"

Sources close to Lady Hermon have indicated that she used the word jacksie and not arse

Fair play to her, I hope she gets elected again on an Independent ticket.  She has worked hard for her constituents, catholic and protestant, nationalist and unionist

I couldn't agree more. I've met her a couple of times and she really is one of the nicest people you could meet

Its just a pity that Bob "man of integrity" McCartney isnt standing. Then the electorate's choice might have been something like

Independant Unionist
Traditional Unionist
Democratic Unionist
Northern Ireland Unionist
United Kingdom Unionist
Progressive Unionist
Alliance
SDLP
Sinn Fein

I'm sure I've left a few out. Is there a Fine Gael Unionist?

She always came across as a very hard working politician, who cared more for her constituency's needs than toeing the party line. I hope she gets reelected again as an Independent.

Some people seem to think Republicanism is shooting people.

Fine Gael, Fianna Fail & Labour are all Nationalist parties despite what mud other people may try to throw at them. They delcare themselves so, the vast majority of their members believe them to be so & the vast majority of people who vote for them consider them so. (Just in case anyone thinks I am confusing Nationalism and Republicanism, I am not)

Just when I see Fine Gael & nationalist in the same sentence I tend to think Eoin O'Duffy, Blue Shirts, Franco, Lord Haw Haw and people like that

Fine geal the true Republican party ??? is that the fine geal party that wound down  the investigation into the Monaghan and Dublin bombings in 1974 less than 7 months after the atrocity ? The fine geal party that buried their heads in the sand when the attacks left 33 persons dead and almost 300 injured: the largest number of casualties in any single day in the troubles?

FG? Republican?! Pass the sick bag!! The last time we had a FG Taoiseach, Big Ian described him as "a better unionist than I am". Unfortunately, for the "united Ireland Party", the "Ireland" they refer to stops anywhere north of Monaghan and east of Donegal.
