I think it was more a case of using their business cards to gain admission instead of paying in.  Weren't Cork playing?  They probably thought that if the Gardai can do it so could they and of course some reporter got hold of it.  If they had wanted to know who the stewards were all they had to do was ask Peter McKenna and he could have texted them every one of their phone numbers.

Just to confirm Bud that us voluntary stewards never went away. The Revenue officials were sent packing fairly promptly. I think their main objective was to do a spot check on the various security and catering companies who work in and around the stadium. The other point is that any people interested in being a voluntary steward are most welcome to apply. You are not required every match day though a commitment is expected.
